Dhoonya Dance Performance Company

The Dhoonya Dance Performance Company (DDPC) is the official dance company of Dhoonya Dance, LLC. The Performance Company is a co-ed dance company comprised of the Washington, DC area's most elite and talented South Asian dancers.

The dancers of DDPC share their collective expertise in a variety of South Asian, Middle Eastern and Western dance forms, including but not limited to, Bollywood; Indian Classical (Bharatanatyam and Kathak); Indian Folk (Bhangra, Garba/Raas, Marathi); Hip-hop; Jazz; Lyrical/Modern; and Bellydance to create unique choreography as further enhanced by this select group's unmatched energy and excitement. 

The Performance Company has thrilled audiences all over the DC metro area and shared its passion for dance through numerous performances, including the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Asia Heritage Festival, Washington Metropolitan Opera's MidWinter Gala, Miss India DC Pageant, Boogie Woogie Chalo America - DC Competition, and other local community and private events. Performances also include a special choreography to the newly released hit "Basement Bhangra" in front of DJ Rekha herself, as well as celebrity guests Bono, Ashley Judd, and Padma Laxmi at the YouthAids Gala.

Our Mission
The mission of the Dhoonya Dance Performance Company (DDPC) is
a) to promote and expand the artistic abilities of its dancers by sharing, creating, and performing innovative dance choreography for the enjoyment of the group as well as for the entertainment of the greater public; and
b) to create public awareness about traditional and mainstream South Asian culture and to spread such culture through the performance of traditional and modern South Asian dance, as well as fusions of South Asian dance with other forms.
